The Dishonest Son and The ‘Ghost’ Doctor Mother – Chapter 35

Drawing out the number 3

Yu Qingluo is the Ghost Doctor?!!

An epiphany shone through Ye Xiudu’s head, grabbing onto Nannan’s revelation, he asked in confirmation: “Who did you say was the Ghost Doctor?”

‘Hic’. Nannan trembled in fright because of the fierce sight directed upon him and let out a hiccup. Seeing that Ye Xiudu’s expression was one like he was going to eat someone, he blinked twice and then answered in a small voice: “M-my mother.”

Da Wu’s heart skipped a beat as he saw that situation. He could only see Ye Xiudu body flash as he moved extremely fast, before he, without thinking it out, managed to stretch a hand in Nannan’s direction.

Mo Xian was near him, so he raised a leg, obstructing the path in front of the man. Da Wu bit his lower lips, bending his body in order to get around it and charged towards his target, Nannan.

“Your skills are good.” Mo Xian laughed, his fingers promptly grabbed around his shoulder and pulled him back, the two of them exchanging several moves inside of the box.

The problem was that, when compared to Ye Xiudu’s bodyguards, Da Wu’s skills were still a bit inferior, although the difference wasn’t great Mo Xian made it so that he was unable to move another step out of place.

“Who the hell are you people, let Nannan go!”

Da Wu struggled with all his might until Mo Xian used a hand to chop on his nape and directly knock him out.

The inside of the box was once again silent. Nannan was still being carried by Ye Xiudu’s arms, and with a blank expression exclaimed: “Uncle, don’t you know? Eeh!!! You all didn’t know? Didn’t I tell you?”

Ye Xiudu was made uncredulous by Nannan’s words, turning his head to look at Shen Ying.

The latter’s mouth was dropped open in astonishment. It took a little while before he finally managed to shut it close and after swallowing a mouthful of saliva, he finally managed to say something with difficulty “There are some people keeping guard in the tavern’s backyard. We weren’t able to enter to see clearly the Ghost Doctor’s real appearance. I was afraid to make too much noise and provoke unnecessary trouble.”

He had just come back from his mission, but he was interrupted by Da Wu’s knocking on the door before being able to report to Ye Xiudu about the results from his tailing.

Sure enough, this tavern was totally leakproof. Shopkeeper Jin’s skills were exceptional and all those servers in the tavern were also martial artists. Although considering how skilful he is, he shouldn’t face any problem in successfully defeating those guarding the backyard, that would nevertheless have a chance of causing some disturbance. If trouble arose, his Lord’s meeting with the Ghost Doctor could be affected, our worse, Ye Xiudu’s identity could end up being exposed.

B-But… but he could have never, not in a million years, have guessed that the person inside that courtyard in the rear end of the building, that super mysterious and elusive Ghost Doctor, was actually Miss Yu.

Shen Ying found this truth very hard to swallow.

It wasn’t only him, Mo Xian and Wen Tian standing inside of the room also couldn’t accept it. Even the still recovering Peng Ying, who was reclining on a chair over in the corner of the room had an astonished expression, unable to wake up from the shock.

In particular, Wen Tian, who was previously given a laxative by Yu Qingluo. His heart was brooding. Her methods were too swift and decisive, not letting one have the chance to take a breath. It wasn’t easy to find out that the Ghost Doctor was in Jiang Cheng and it wasn’t easy to have the Lord agree to meet that Ghost Doctor as well. He thought that as long as there was a person with even better medical skills around, he would be able to resolutely put down Yu Qingluo’s overweening attitude.

But he couldn’t have imagined… Couldn’t have thought that in the end, that Ghost Doctor who he deposited his hopes in as well as secretly admired, would unexpectedly turn out to be her.

In this world, how could there be such torment? How could such a situation let him fuming in anger and completely helpless at the same time exist?

He had a hard time accepting it too. He charged in large strides, stopping in front of Nannan. Very grimly and solemnly he asked: “Nannan, you said, that your mother, that is, Yu Qingluo, the one who treated Shen Ying’s poison, that woman… Is she really, really, the Ghost Doctor?”

Nannan tilted his head, blinking at him weirdly. He sat right in Ye Xiudu’s arms. Listening to him questioning he also felt curious.

“Could it be that my mother isn’t called Ghost Doctor? Is it Poison Doctor? Divine Doctor? Quack Doctor? No, eh. I could swear it was Ghost Doctor, right. Aunty Jin said, that because my mother was so crafty and cunning that the character ‘Gui’ (TL: The ideogram, besides ‘Ghost’, also means ‘Crafty’, ‘Sly’) was very fitting to her.”

Ye Xiudu’s lips pressed in a tight line, his face stretched tautly. Recalling the moment that Yu Qingluo said she wanted to come to see the Ghost Doctor, without the slightest hesitation, there was a meaningful expression flashing through her eyes.  So it was actually like that, actually like that. No wonder that even if she had her medical skills questioned she’d also be so indifferent about it. No wonder she would have that incredibly rare Ice Dew pill with her. No wonder her medical skills were so superb.

Ghost Doctor? Hah, she was unexpectedly the Ghost Doctor?

So, wouldn’t it be correct to say that he accidentally picked up a treasure in the end?

Great. This was one more reason as to why she must stay by his side.

Wen Tian stroked his forehead. Listening to Nannan’s answer to his heartfelt question, he felt his heart like dying embers. But with a gleam of hope in his mind, he asked in a low voice: “Isn’t the Ghost Doctor a man? Isn’t he old? Isn’t he a senior with abundant experience that appears and disappears unpredictably?”

Nannan’s eyes revealed a weird emotion, looking up and down at Wen Tian: “Uncle Wen, are you delirious? You aren’t even clear on whether my mother is a female or not. If you aren’t comfortable talking about it, I’ll ask my mother to show it to you. Don’t worry, free of charge.”

Wen Tian already was at a loss for words. Silently stepping aside to draw invisible circles on the floor (TL: that hopeless, cartoonish look). Reality was unexpectedly cruel.

Shen Ying couldn’t bear swallowing a mouthful of saliva. Fortunately… fortunately he unknowingly formed a good relationship with the Ghost Doctor in advance. He had always believed that Miss Yu wasn’t an ordinary person. Fortunately, what he felt was right on the spot, otherwise, he would not have a good ending.

“The Aunty Jin you speak of, is she this tavern’s shopkeeper?” Ye Xiudu slowly pacified that annoyance in his chest, changing Nannan’s position in his arms, he asked Shen Ying to put the food on the table, letting the starved kiddo eat something.

Nannan bulged his cheeks and nodded: “Right, Aunty Jin is amazing. All of the subordinates under her have martial skills. Just like Uncle Da Wu… right. Uncle… Da Wu? Why have you passed out?”

Shen Ying silently turned his head, sympathizing with Da Wu that had just been pressed to the ground by Mo Xian not long ago. Nannan, have you just noticed that the hero who came to save you was knocked out?

Nannan let out a giggle, sliding off from Ye Xiudu’s lap. He held out a hand, placing it under Da Wu’s nose, searching for his breath. Noticing that he was still breathing, he calmed down and then went back to eat.

Shen Ying once again felt sympathy towards Da Wu. Nannan, don’t tell me that you aren’t even going to try to lift him off the ground?

Ye Xiudu drew the kiddo in his lap again, his eyes flickered as he spoke in a low and deep tone: “Your mother and Aunty Jin, how did they meet?”

“Eh, hehem~, delicious.  Aunty Jin was injured” he whipped his mouth with his sleeves”…then she was saved by my mother.” ‘Hun, hun hun~’ Nannan messily finished out the several dishes placed in front of him while humming. Wolfing everything down without a care about his appearance.

“About your mother’s identity. Except for Aunty Jin, who else knows?” Ye Xiudu gave him a cup of water trying to be considerate. Patting his back so as not to let him choke, but his thoughts didn’t stop.

He realized that the previous approach he took was all wrong. If he wanted to know more about Yu Qingluo, it would be easier to obtain the information through Nannan’s mouth.

This kiddo… it was almost like he knew it all but didn’t talk anything.

Shen Ying then started to sympathize with Yu Qingluo.

“Except for Aunty Jin,“ he wiped his mouth again “There’s also uncle Da Wu… Grandma Ge, the cotton candy uncle, Older sister Rourou,…” he then started humming again.

Nannan effortlessly started selling his own mother. Although… except for these few nicknames, there was not a single reference for them to base themselves on.

However, it was at this same time, from downstairs, Jin Liuli’s sound could be heard bright and clear: “Number 3, this time number three was drawn out.”

Number three? Wen Tian grabbed the wooden token on the table, then saw Ye Xiudu looking back with the same thought in his eyes.
