The Dishonest Son and The ‘Ghost’ Doctor Mother – Chapter 73

Ye Lanping’s gifts

As the sky dawned, the sunlight coming from outside soon spread over Ye Xiudu’s body, covering it like a warm blanket.

He squinted his eyes in response to it as he felt the room getting warmer, and then remembered the agreement with Yu Qingluo from last night, feeling better for no apparent reason.

It was the feeling that a big rock weighing on his heart had finally been dropped to the ground as that woman would finally be staying in here.

Ye Xiudu couldn’t help but chuckle again. Then, he raised a hand over his head and looked at his palm to see that the darkened colour had all simply faded away completely. He also felt much better, his strength had recovered little by little.

Circling his Qi bit by bit he felt very comfortable, there were no signs of blockage in his meridians.

He was thinking that the poison in his body should have been completely detoxified by Yu Qingluo.

Not long after, there was a quiet knock on the door. Ye Xiudu paused his actions and put his hand down, letting the sleeves cover it up as he answered: “Come in.”

Mo Xian walked in with a small box in his hands, seeing that the look on his Lord’s face seemed brighter, he couldn’t help but make some conjectures in his mind. But then again, looking at his Lord’s bed, he didn’t see any sign of it being messy, so he pushed all his guesses off of his mind.

“Where’s Yu Qingluo?”

Mo Xian was startled. The first thing that the Lord asked about after waking up was about Miss Yu, so their guesses from last night might not be too off from the real situation.

The Lord really fancied Miss Yu.

“Miss Jin came back to the residence early in the morning and had a chat with Miss Yu. Afterwards, the two left together, but Miss Yu said that she’ll be back before evening and that she’ll be wanting to see Nannan by that time.”

Mo Xian relayed Miss Yu’s words in a quieter voice, sighing inwardly as he saw the Lord’s mouths curving up. Miss Yu had been clearly gritting her teeth as she said those last words to them, looking very ferocious to the point that their hearts were still accelerated until now.

Ye Xiudu sat to his side and seemed to be satisfied with Yu Qingluo’s explanation before leaving.

Turning his head to see the small box placed over the table, he raised an eyebrow in inquiry, asking: “What is this?”

“Oh! This was sent by Ping shizi[1] in the morning. They said it was a toy to be given to the kid that accompanied the Lord yesterday in order to appease him for the shock he suffered yesterday. This subordinate believes that this should have been sent for Nannan.”

Ye Lanping?

(TL: So, Ye Lanping is his name, and his title is Ping Shizi. His father must be Prince Ping (or Ping Wang). May I say that this title is a bit weird for a prince? Since it represents ‘peaceful, plain’, so to me it’s basically a sign that the emperor doesn’t favour this son getting the throne anywhere into the future xD)

Ye Xiudu smiled coldly as he gave the box a glance before answering: “Give it to me and I’ll pass this onto him.”

“Yes.”

“Did Nannan sleep well last night?” Ye Xiudu felt very fulfilled since finding out that the little guy was his biological son. The son that Yu Qingluo gave birth for him, this sentence always put him into a good mood for no reason.

Mo Xian followed him out of his chambers and said with a smile: “He slept pretty well but he kept holding onto those bags of silver and refused to let go of them, almost like he was afraid that we would take them back from him.”

“Really?” Ye Xiudu shook his head “This greedy little fellow” his mother was the Ghost Doctor, so her wealth shouldn’t be small. So why was he still so eager to grab money like he never saw some in his life?

Mo Xian felt frightened in his heart when he detected the pampering and indulgent tone in the words spoken by his Lord. It was like thousands of ants were crawling under his skin, making him feel very uncomfortable.

The place where Nannan had stayed the evening was not in one of the residence’s courtyards, but inside of a secret room behind a rockery in the garden.

Ye Xiudu was sure that Yu Qingluo wouldn’t give up so easily and would definitely try to search for her son everywhere, so he let the others hide him in order to stop that woman’s plans.

The secret room wasn’t large. Nannan probably still hasn’t noticed the sun rising outside, so after awaking and seeing that the money was still in his arms, he fell back asleep contentedly.

By the time that Ye Xiudu came in, all he saw was the little boy sleeping with the bags of money that he had grabbed yesterday night, without a trace of panic over what had happened.

“You go out first.” Ye Xiudu said to Mo Xian that came behind him without looking back.

Mo Xian nodded and then turned around to close the door behind him as he exited the secret room and left the garden.

Nannan’s eyelids trembled as his nose smelled a good scent nearing.

“En, what a gooood smell. Is that smell… the smell of wine?” Nannan’s nose twitched, then he sat up and jumped from the bed. The moment he did so though, he realized that he was still lying on the silver from yesterday and that he was about to fall from the bed.

Ye Xiudu gave him a look and extended an arm to bring him back up, letting him sit down as he laughed: “Slow down.”

This voice…

Nannan abruptly turned his head to look and seeing that it was Ye Xiudu, he freed himself from his embrace, sliding back and getting close to the bedside before stopping in his steps.

Ye Xiudu looked at his empty arms and his eyebrows couldn’t help but curl up as he said: “Nannan, come here.”

Nannan shook his head decisively: “Eh, no, I don’t want.”

“Don’t you want to drink?” (TL: bad father.) what’s going on with the kid? It seemed as if he was scared of him.

Nannan gulped and then fiercely nodded: “I want to.”

“Then come over.”

“Then you have to promise not to bite me.” After giving it a thought Nannan started negotiating with him.

Bite? Ye Xiudu was taken aback, why in the world would he bite him for?

“Uncle Mo said that you bit my mom because she was hiding the fact that I was your son from you. Th-then… I was also hiding it from you. If you bite me I-I’ll be very angry.”

“…” Ye Xiudu’s usually expressionless cheeks were tinged by a rare blushing colour right at this moment.

Mo Xian, just why did this guy needlessly explain that to him? And also, that wasn’t biting at all, he was kissing Yu Qingluo.

Face palming inwardly, he stretched a hand out to Nannan in a very patient manner: “Calm down, I’m not going to bite you. I came here to give you something to eat.”

Food? Nannan’s eyes shone brightly and, as he heard his reassurance, he immediately jumped over into his arms and took the food box from him.

Seeing that it was filled with his favourite dishes and his favourite drinks, his affection for Ye Xiudu rose to the max immediately. No matter what he asked of him, he would get all the answers on the spot.

“Uncle Ye, as a matter of fact, I didn’t really want to hide that from you. That da,y when I saw that the jade pendant on your body was the same as my Mother’s, I wanted yo say it to you, but my mother moved faster and forbid me to do so and she still said that if I recognized you as my father, she wouldn’t want me anymore. Oh, my Mother is so headstrong, don’t mind her!”

Ye Xiudu’s brows rose as the arms around Nannan tightened a bit, only to feel that the little guy was really soft and warm when being held.

“Therefore! Uh, this is delicious. Therefore! I also deliberately asked you to bring me to the Capital. Am I not very smart?” Nannan raised his greasy little face, looking arrogantly at him.

Ye Xiudu nodded, raising his hand and directly wiping Nannan’s mouth with his own sleeves while agreeing with him: “Indeed very smart”. Still, this form of addressing him… was a bit exaggerated.

“Hey, Uncle Ye. What’s this?” After eating several bites Nannan then turned around and noticed that there was a small and delicate box next to Ye Xiudu and reached out for it, curious.

“That gongzi from yesterday in Linshui’s tower sent it over to you.”

[1] 世子 – ‘shizi’ is a title given to the next heir of certain nobility titles. Usually, they are the firstborn sons of a prince (Wang ye) but that have yet to succeed the father’s title.
