The Dishonest Son and The ‘Ghost’ Doctor Mother – Chapter 30

To cut a finger off

Wu Dong gave out a muffled sound as she was not given enough time to call for help before feeling a tingling pain from the back of her neck. After that, she lost consciousness.

The two people who grabbed her looked at each other and, without any care, threw the linen bag she was enclosed within into a carriage parked outside of the other side of the alley. Sitting on the driver’s bench and wielding the whip, the carriage drove forward like an arrow being released from a bow, advancing at a rapid speed.

It wasn’t known how long it took until the carriage stopped in front of its destination, a common-looking hut.

Wu Dong was already feeling discomfort all over from the bumps on the road when she was thrown inside of the house by those people, being awakened by the sudden painful feeling in her head from the impact against the ground.

The linen bag was opened. She opened her eyes to look around as she rubbed the painful spot on her head wearing an uncomfortable expression. The next second she shrunk to the floor as she saw a woman was inside the room right in front of her. As Wu Dong’s face twisted in fright, she asked the figure whose back was facing her with a trembling voice: “Who are you? What do you want to do?”

The woman tittered, the beads decorating her hair swaying at the slight trembling of her body catching one’s eyes.

Turning around slowly and getting up, the woman started walking slowly in Wu Dong’s direction. Asking with a condescending tone: “Are you Wu Dong?”

“You… who are you?”

“I’m the one asking questions. The Lord of the Mo residence, is his surname Ye?” It was a troubling miscalculation; they had been looking for him for so long but had never thought that Ye Xiudu would be hiding in such a large courtyard concealed within the city. That was probably it. If it wasn’t for them following this Wu Dong around perhaps, they’d be unable to know that the one surnamed Ye lived there.

Wu Dong’s eyes narrowed. ‘Were they looking for the Lord?’ That immediately raised a red flag, causing her to put her guard up against this woman. She raised her eyes and saw the small smile dancing on the woman’s lips.

“Ye Xiudu, how is his injury?” The woman squatted down, leaning her body closer to Wu Dong as if she wanted to get a glimpse of all of Wu Dong’s smallest reactions.

Wu Dong inhaled deeply, except for the people inside of the residence, who else but the people who caused it would know about the Lord’s injury? If so, then these people… are they the bad guys?

She can’t say. She absolutely cannot say a word about the Lord’s condition.

Wu Dong abruptly turned her head away. Although she wasn’t very smart, she still was able to think logically. Initially, she already didn’t know much about the Lord, and now, after encountering this type of situation she thought it was even more impossible to leak anything about it.

“Not telling?” The woman chuckled, her slender fingers grabbing Wu Dong’s chin. Her face then changed into a sullen expression with gloomy eyes: “Then don’t blame me for cutting some fingers off.”

The conversation suddenly took a turn, the woman’s voice became sharper.

A cold light flashed, and a dagger was pressed against Wu Dong’s skin as the woman’s chuckle sounded again. The blood pouring out of a cut made against Wu Dong’s little finger.

Wu Dong was stunned for a moment. But following that she felt a sharp pain that ran through her bones, spreading to her whole body as it stimulated her nerves. Some heart-piercing screams immediately filling the hut.

“Ah…Ah…Ahhh, it hurts!” Wu Dong held her bloody finger in her hands, shrinking towards the ground. Her expression was mingling with pain and disbelief.

How could she actually believe that the woman would directly give her a death sentence without giving her the time to think.

“Now, still not saying it?” The woman used her fingers to lightly wipe the sweat forming on Wu Dong’s forehead.

While shrinking on the floor, Wu Dong trembled in fear, feeling that she couldn’t take it any longer. She nodded quickly: “I will, I will say it.” At this moment she had no doubts that this woman would kill her on the spot.

The woman was satisfied by her answer. Staying up again she sat back on the chair, and taking a charming instance, she squinted her eyes to look at her: “Did you heal Ye Xiudu’s injury? How well did it get?”

“I- I don’t know.” Wu Dong said stutteringly but seeing the woman’s face turning dark at her answer, she hurriedly clarified herself: “I treated him in the beginning, and his injury was very serious. Although I managed to save his life, it was still a life-threatening wound. However, a woman surnamed Yu came to the Mo residence and her medical skills were excellent. She took over the Lord’s treatment and probably managed to get him to recover about 70% or 80%.”

Wu Dong understood that the group of people in front of her didn’t want Ye Xiudu to survive, so, as long as she pushed Yu Qingluo into the spotlight they’d definitely regard her as an eyesore.

“A woman surnamed Yu?” Sure enough, Yu Qingluo’s name grabbed her attention.

Wu Dong nodded: “Yes, that woman’s medical skills are marvellous. She can even save a person on the brink of death. Even I, the only disciple of the Old Doctor of Qiongshan, have to admit my loss in front of her skills. With her, even the Lord… Ye Xiudu who is on verge of death will probably be healed up by her as well.”

A disciple of the Old Doctor of Qiongshan? That woman couldn’t hold a mocking glance towards Wu Dong: “Is this woman surnamed Yu really that amazing?”

“Yes, one of the closest subordinates of the Lord, Peng Ying, who was injured and poisoned, was also healed by her.”

Surprise flashed through the woman’s eyes. Peng Ying’s poisoning was done by their hands, and she was well aware of how serious his injury was. She thought that even if he was carried back by his comrades, he would now be 6 feet under. But it was a surprise that he was actually alive. That woman surnamed Yu seemed to spell real trouble too.

“Wu Dong.” the woman changed her posture slightly, looking at the kneeling Wu Dong with disdain: “I want you to take us into the Mo Residence.”

Wu Dong was startled by the request, but she hurriedly shook her head and explained: “I can’t. The layout of the Mo residence is very complicated. Except for the secret guards and the Lord’s bodyguards, there’s no one else who knows the way around. I am unable to enter it at all. Besides, I didn’t stay there for a long time, so I still know very little. Otherwise, why would I beg that loudly to the housekeeper to let me see the Lord?”

“Oh?” The woman seemed to partially believe her: “Then, what did you go to the Mo residence for?”

“I… I just heard that the Ghost Doctor came into the Jiang City and, considering the Lord’s injury, I thought that it would be good if he let him take a look at it. After all, that woman surnamed Yu’s identity is still unknown and couldn’t be completely trusted. I was worried she would cause problems to the Mo residence.”

The woman chuckled softly: “You really think a lot about Ye Xiudu.”

Wu Dong lowered her head, her mouth had a bitter taste inside. So what if she thought about him so? She didn’t know just what kind of drug that woman fed to the Lord so that he would protect her so much.

“Will he go see the Ghost Doctor?”

“I- I don’t know.” Wu Dong shook her head, this was the truth.

The woman tapped gently over the table, in silence. After a long pause, she looked at one of the men by her side and expressionless ordered: “Take her down and keep a look at her.”

“Yes.” the man answered sternly, walking towards the kneeling woman.

Wu Dong thought that she would let her go, but without having the opportunity to say a word she was again knocked out.

There were only a few people left in the room. The woman stood up and walked towards the window, her eyes focusing on the Mo residence in the distance. A soundless sneer forming in the corner of her lips.

“Shuang Ke, what should we do next?” After a long time, the man behind her stepped forward and respectfully asked her.

“Two days later, let’s go to Fulong Inn in the southern district.”

“Do you think that Ye Xiudu will actually be there?”

“It doesn’t matter if he shows up or not. We have to go there since it might be our only chance. In addition, even if we can’t see him, we can also be there for that legendary Ghost Doctor. I heard that he has Ice Dew pills on his body. Not only that but his skills are said to be as good as the Old Doctor of Qiongshan. The lady has always desired to get him into her hands.”

The man thought for a second, then nodded in agreement: “I understand.”
