The Dishonest Son and The ‘Ghost’ Doctor Mother – Chapter 61

Hello folks! Today is Children’s Day here in Brazil, so you guys get a bonus chapter. You know the drill.

World Children’s Day is celebrated on the 20th of November to commemorate the Declaration of the Rights of the Child by the United Nations General Assembly on 20 November 1959.

Children’s Day is celebrated every October 12th over here in Brazil. The date was established in 1924, via a presidential decree, by the then President Arthur Bernardes, based on an idea brought up by federal congressman Galdino do Valle Filho earlier in the same year. This happened one year before International Children’s Day was proclaimed in Geneva during the World Conference on Child Welfare in 1925.
Apparently, President Getúlio Vargas changed the date officially to the 25th of March in 1940, but no one seems to care, I only heard about it searching for something to write here.

What to do if I can’t marry a wife?

Shen Ying and the other two exchanged glances, the Lord wasn’t here at all so, how could they bring him out?

Ye Xiudu frowned, a cold light was reflected in the blade he held in his hands. But seeing that the hand holding Yu Qingluo’s neck was tightening more and more, his pupils contracted unconsciously, and after a moment, he retracted the blade in his hand.

Wanting him to show up? Very well, Ye Xiudu is very curious to know if he will be able to keep his life if the assassin meets him face to face.

Ye Xiudu raised the hem of his clothes slightly, preparing to jump down from the roof.

At this moment, Yu Qingluo, who had been deadly quiet up until now, suddenly started chuckling.

“What are you laughing about?” The killer was taken aback by her actions and glared furiously at her. This woman was also very strange. Even after being held hostage by him, she didn’t cry nor made any noise, not even a single call for help.

Now she suddenly opened her mouth to laugh.

“Mister, you caught me by mistake.” Yu Qingluo couldn’t help but roll her eyes at him, just why did he have to grab her? Why was she the one considered the prime target of others bullying?

“Mister, let’s not mention the fact that Ye Xiudu isn’t even here right now. And even if he was, you wouldn’t be able to threaten him by catching me. Do you think he’d give up his life for a random woman?” Stupid.

The killer went blank for a moment, then angrily retorted her: “Really? Insignificant? If your life is so insignificant, then why would they act this anxious for you? Ok! If Ye Xiudu doesn’t come out I’ll kill you first, you… you…”

His expression suddenly changed in the middle of his speech, his eyes were moving but his body seemed frozen stiff.

Yu Qingluo slowly pinched the stiff hand, taking it off her neck and turned around to pat his shoulder with a smile: “Not killing me from the start should be your greatest sorrow.”

After she finished speaking, she slapped the man who was just about to take her life and sent him tumbling down the stairs, fiercely slamming against the ground.

Everyone was left completely astonished. One of the men in the room ran to their Leader’s body, putting a finger under his nose to check his breathing, but couldn’t sense anything.

“Y-you, what did you do?” Someone pointed at Yu Qingluo and roared.

“Oh, nothing much. It’s just that when he caught me, I prickled him with a poisoned needle. And now he just reacted to the poison, so he died.” Yu Qingluo shook the deadly toxic needle in her hand and replied to the man with a smile: “Do you want to try it too?”

“You…”

“Kill them, leave no one behind.” Yu Qingluo coldly threw the poisonous needle down, her voice sounded like unmelting frost, without a single shred of warmth.

If they had only disturbed her sleep then that would be all. But they still want to come and threaten her?!

In the roof, the corner of Ye Xiudu’s mouth rose as he let out a relieved sigh. Just like he was saying, how could this woman suffer for no reason? The reason she had been standing in the corridor likely was just to lure out the leader to deal with her.

Jin Liuli took the lead, she wielded her whip and strangled a man on the spot, blood from his neck spilt as the whip unwinded.

Shen Ying picked his sword up from the ground again and with flushed eyes, he rushed towards the remaining black-clothed men.

Without their leader, those men were like a sheet of loose sand[1], although they still had some strength left, it was far from their initial imposing and ‘not afraid of death’ attitude.

Not long after, indeed… there was no one left alive.

Yu Qingluo came downstairs, looking at the dead bodies spread all over the place. When the thick bloody smell reached her nose she suddenly started feeling a bit nauseous.

She walked over to Peng Ying and Shen Ying, seeing that their injuries weren’t too serious she felt relieved.

As people gathered around Yu Qingluo, Jin Liuli’s face was stern, her ears moving slightly as a trace of doubt flashed across her face: “Weird, is the other person that helped us before gone?”

As soon as she finished talking, she saw one of the secret guards rushing in and saying, with a shocked expression: “Mo Xian, there is still another group of people outside. However, they have all been dealt with.”

“Someone already dealt with them?” Jin Liuli was flabbergasted. She proceeded to rush out of the inn, together with Mo Xian.

There was really several people randomly[2] scattered around on the ground, all of them already completely out of breath.

Jin Liuli knelt down and, looking at a wound in one of those people’s foot, her eyes lit up. Wasn’t this cut similar to the one Ye Xiudu used to kill Shuang Ke in the Fulong inn?

Could it be that Ye Xiudu was here? Jin Liuli raised her head, but there was only cold wind blowing around in this remote suburb, without even another person’s shadow.

Since Jin Liuli figured out that this was Ye Xiudu’s work, naturally Mo Xian was also aware of that.

Knowing that his Lord had arrived here safely made him feel relieved in his mind.

When the two of them returned to the inn, Yu Qingluo had already finished treating Peng Ying and Shen Ying’s wounds. Seeing them coming back, her hands halted slightly as she asked: “Who was the one that dealt with the group outside?”

“I don’t know.”  Jin Liuli took a step, then frowned like she wasn’t able to fathom the person behind the action: “It probably was a person highly skilled in martial arts. We didn’t see when that person left, but those dead bodies seem to belong to different factions, I think they were in the middle fighting each other when they happened to be up on the roof of this inn. I don’t think they were here out for us.”

Mo Xian looked at Jin Liuli, who had just lied without blinking, in utter shock. It was obvious that this was not the case at all, this woman surely knew that they were killed by their Lord, but how come she told Yu Qingluo a completely different story?

He was puzzled and he couldn’t ask her here right away. He could only obediently close his eyes for this situation, nodding to Yu Qingluo, putting up a front of seriousness when she turned her eyes to him seeking confirmation.

Clapping her hands, Yu Qingluo got up after packing all of her items: “Since there already are no more enemies, then we should leave overnight. Anyways, we aren’t sleepy anymore at all.”

Just because you are not sleepy doesn’t mean that your people aren’t sleepy either!

Mo Xian’s lips twitched, but he also knew that she wasn’t in a good mood at this moment. Besides, she was right. The people who had been responsible for sending the killers after them would get the news that they were still alive in a short time. So it was best if they took on this opportunity to rush back to the Capital.

Wen Tian and Mo Xian looked at each other, quickly proceeding to clean up the inn, in and out, packing all of their baggage into the carriage as they started moving towards the Capital with no more pauses.

Ye Xiudu jumped down from the roof and couldn’t help but sigh as he watched the carriage move further and further.

Setting off right now would surely make the little guy, who was tight asleep, grumpy.

And sure enough, when Nannan was woken up by the bumps of the road felt from inside of the carriage he turned irritable. Sitting in the carriage in a trance, his hands and feet moved, pulling and twisting on his clothes angrily.

“Uncle Ye, my mother said that people should always have a good night of sleep. And they should sleep 8 hours a day[3], especially if you are a child like me, who is in their growth period right now, I cannot get up just to rush on our journey since that will deeply affect my development. Tell me, what should I do if I don’t grow tall? What if I’m unable to marry a wife? Are you planning on raising me for a lifetime?”

Nannan seemed like an earthworm twisting around unceasingly, pouting with the air of someone who just got out of bed.

Ye Xiudu thought, Nannan and Yu Qingluo are really mother and child. Their mood becomes really sour when their sleep is interrupted.

“Your mother has already left and is a step ahead of us.” He smiled, interrupting him.

Nannan’s chattering mouth suddenly snapped closed. And after a while, he shrank to the corner of the carriage, responding with a low: “Oh.”
