The Dishonest Son and The ‘Ghost’ Doctor Mother – Chapter 64

Fifth Uncle?

The so-called second brother was stunned for a bit and the people around him couldn’t help but stop in their tracks to stare at the person who dared to call their second brother’s name in astonishment, unable to come back to their senses.

Ye Lanping looked at Ye Xiudu carefully, taking a deep breath and hurriedly moved towards him, taking two or three steps forward, saying in a whisper: “F-fifth uncle?”

“I thought that you were getting older since your memory seems to have worsened.” Ye Xiudu looked at the boy in front of him condescendingly, his voice deepened.

It was not that he had a bad memory, the problem was that he hadn’t seen Ye Xiudu in over four years. Moreover, his fifth uncle had always been dressed neatly and meticulously. No matter how he looked, his clothes right now were seemingly common garments suited for ordinary people.

Ye Lanping lowered his head in a hurry and his voice became even lower: “Fifth uncle, you, why are you here? When did you return to the Capital?”

“Are you questioning me now?”

Ye Lanping let out a relieved sigh, shaking his head urgently: “Your nephew doesn’t dare.” He seemed to be very afraid of Ye Xiudu after recognizing who he was, not even daring to raise his head, let alone look into his eyes.

This kind of attitude was very different from his initial arrogant display, letting other people beat him out.

Nannan was so shocked that his jaw was about to drop to the floor.

Fifth uncle? Uncle Ye was the fifth uncle of this arrogant person? Uncle Ye was… amazing.

Not only Nannan but everyone else in the restaurant was also shocked. Yuan Shi was frozen stiff, incapable of moving an inch. Fifth uncle? Since that person was Ye Lanping’s fifth uncle then wasn’t he…

He ran over in a hurry, kneeling down in front of Ye Xiudu. But the latter only snorted, motioning him to stop as he expressionless asked: “Yuan gongzi, am I fit to enter the restaurant now? Am I qualified enough to eat in this restaurant? Or do you want to beat me out?”

“I-I-… This humble one doesn’t dare.” Yuan Shi’s body trembled all over, a layer of fine sweat covered his forehead as some drops started flowing into his eyes but he still did not dare move to wipe them.

The waiter stood nearby scared silly, to the point he felt like his soul was about to leave his body at any second. Even Yuan Shi declared to be the lower one in front of him, so what about himself? Wasn’t him even lower than the ants on the ground?

Why was this person’s influence so great?

That waiter of the shop dropped on his knees as he felt his legs lose their strength. His face turned pale, then bluish, then purple as he couldn’t even dare to breathe.

Nannan’s eyes shined with brilliant splendour as he pulled on Ye Xiudu’s clothes and said with a smile: “Uncle Ye, I want to eat fish.”

Suddenly hearing that soft and childish voice, Ye Lanping suddenly remembered that Ye Xiudu’s arm seemed… as if he was holding… a child.

A child? The fifth uncle had always been cold and unkind, rejecting to get close to other people. When did he suddenly start hugging a child?

Could it be that this was the fifth uncle’s child?

(TL: Biological or not, those were his plans, dearest, and he must be really happy you are ‘misunderstanding’ this situation. He wants those rumours to roll in people’s tongues, alright.)

No, that wasn’t it. This kid just called him Uncle Ye…

Ye Lanping’s head was filled with suspicions. No matter what he reasoned, he couldn’t figure out why this indifferent man, who seemed unable to display any sort of tenderness to anyone in his impression of him from 4 years ago, would hold a child to eat out. Just what the hell happened?

Ye Lanping was still puzzling over when a familiar voice he was terrified of sounded from above his head: “Lead the way.”

“Ah, yes.” Ye Laping reacted abruptly as he hurriedly pulled Yuan Shi up to let him lead the way.

The waiter saw that he didn’t plan on getting revenge and finally let out a sigh of relief, collapsing onto the ground.

Who would have thought that, as soon as Ye Xiudu took some steps forward, Nannan in his arms would suddenly shout:  Uncle Ye, that waiter just now wanted to hit me. He had no sympathy for me who is so small, with such soft skin and tender flesh, and still wanted to let people hurt my skin, what should be done? What should I do if this beautiful face of mine is ruined? He is too hateful!”

“Hm.” Ye Xiudu agreed and immediately looked into Ye Lanping’s direction with a cold gaze.

The scared nephew quickly became agitated, signalling with his eyes towards the people next to him, the gongzi he winked towards abruptly took some steps back and ordered his servant to drag the waiter down.

(TL: tbh, it’s more like a concierge, not a waiter…)

As for how it will be dealt with later on, it was naturally up to Ye Lanping’s decision.

However, everyone knows deep inside that this kind of waiter, who had no eyeballs[1], probably wouldn’t be feeling much better later.

Nannan was glad and cheerfully lifting his chin and humming: “The feeling of relying on the powerful to bully others surely is pleasurable.”

While he was speaking, Yuan Shi had already led the group into the private room on the second floor.

Wan gongzi had already ordered the food and had just let the food be brought in one by one by the restaurant staff. Seeing Yuan Shi approaching, he silently stood up to greet him.

Who knew that, as soon as he raised his head, he would see those two figures again, one tall and a short one, he had just met at the entrance. He felt his sleeve been pulled a bit by Yuan Shi who shook his head at him.

Wan gongzi quickly calmed down and looked towards Ye Lanping: “Second brother.”

Ye Lanping had no interest in eating here in the first place, to the point of having no good complexion to speak of. He didn’t say a word, only pulling himself a chair for Ye Xiudu to sit on.

The table had already been filled with a display of dazzling dishes, the best and most famous recipes of Linshui Tower. Nannan, without ceremony, wiped his dripping saliva and, without a word, picked a piece of fish into the bowl he was planning on eating in.

Ye Xiudu hurriedly stopped his hands as he frowned: “This fish still has fishbones on it. What are you trying to do in such a hurry? Did you forget about the last time when the fishbone got stuck in your throat?”

Nannan was stunned, recalling the time when he ate half a fish on their way to the Capital but almost lost his life, he immediately felt some lingering fears.

After a moment, he simply pushed the bowl into Ye Xiudu’s direction with a smile on his face as he said in a very natural manner: “Pick them up for me.”

Ye Xiudu didn’t reject his request and took his chopsticks to pick all the thin fishbones out.

Ye Lanping’s eyes widened as he stared at his uncle’s proficient skills at picking the fishbones, shocked to the point that his jaw dropped to the floor.

Was this truly his fifth uncle? Since when did his fifth uncle help other people do things that a servant would normally do? H-how could it be?

Ye Xiudu has always been reserved and always brought an aura of reverence around him. Why would he actually serve people?

Ye Lanping grew suspicious of whether this person in front of him was actually someone else pretending to be his uncle. However, his fifth uncle’s atmosphere was very real and was as frightening as it was four years ago.

The people inside of the room glanced at each other. Although they didn’t know Ye Xiudu, they naturally guessed his identity as soon as they heard how Ye Lanping has been addressing him. Seeing that he looked completely different from what the rumours spoke, none of them could believe this was real.

Nannan enjoyed the best delicacies in the Capital. Looking at all the food on the table, it was natural that he wouldn’t let this opportunity slip through his fingers.

Especially because he saw all the other people standing motionless. That made him even more overjoyed.

These people were so stupid that they even forgot to sit down to eat. But this was advantageous to him so he would definitely not remind them, all these things are all going to belong to him.
